How The Eyes Work During Speed Reading

If you ve ever been witness to someone speed reading the sight can be remarkable. They turn the pages of a book at breakneck speed and often their hand is skimming the length of the pages very quickly. It s difficult to imagine that they are absorbing everything that they are reading. After all, a person reading at normal speed can sometimes even have trouble remembering what they just read. However, it is possible to read and retain all of the information in a book or magazine even when you are reading it much faster than a normal person does. It s obvious that one of the keys to speed reading is the eyes. It s the eyes that are scanning the page, and soaking up the information for the brain. The people who are able to speed read don t have special bionic type eyes. Their eyesight is just the same as anyone else s. The first step to speed reading is found with the eyes. In order to read properly at all, regardless of speed, a person has to be able to see to the best of their ability. This involves getting a regular eye examination. Once you have a thumbs-up from the eye doctor or a new set of glasses...

American Sport Favorites

Moreover, taking up a sport has also many psychological benefits. Sports play a very important part in the American lifestyle. The President himself jogs every morning, plays tennis and golf, and is a leading advocate of fitness. The present-day interest in physical education and great enthusiasm for diets, exercising and jogging, dates from the late sixties when Major Kenneth Gordon published his bestseller 8216;Aerobics 8217;. Since that time the sporting way of life has been popularized by such cult figures like Jane Fonda, Victoria principal or Sylvester Stallone. The favourite American spots today are baseball, basketball, soccer and football. Jogging has also become very popular recently. The early morning joggers have their jogging shoes, their jogging watches and even their jogging magazines. Jogging has become of the most popular practices for people residing in big cities and metropolitans where daily life is too fast to be fit and healthy. However, even if they practice jogging out of sheer snobbery, it is still good that they make an effort to be in good condition. Unfortunately many...

Watch Out For The Salt!

Have you ever taken the time read the nutrition section on the Noodles packs. Did you ever realize that there was so much sodium in noodles. Keep in mind that our suggested sodium intake should be no more 2,300 mg. For those who suffer from high blood pressure and hypertension, the sodium intake should not go over 1,500 mg. On average, we Americans eat 3,300 mg of sodium a day because salt is in everything we eat: bread, cheese, fast food, soup, and even cereal. No more than 10 of salt comes from the salt shaker, and only 10 of salt comes naturally in foods. That means that the other 80 is just from processing. The American Medical Association AMA has decided to approach the government as well as the food industry to reduce levels of salt in processed food which is pretty much any packaged food. The American Medical Association recommended that the Food and Drug Administration FDA should limit the amount of salt allowed in food. Also, the AMA asked the FDA to remove the status of salt as a substance that is considered to be safe and deem salt as a food additive. If the FDA were to listen to the AMA...
